What to Pack, Why to Pack it, & Pro-Tips
We also ask the students to bring a plain shirt or sweatshirt (preferably not black) to use for making a silkscreen souvenir during the week. A bag or pillowcase is another option for the silkscreen souvenir.
What to Pack, Why to Pack it, & Pro-Tips
Bedding
You will be sleeping in a single (twin) sized bunk bed.
You will need the following items:
- Bottom/Fitted sheet for the bunk
- Sleeping bag OR 2 blankets
- Pillow and Pillowcase
Sly Park has extra sleeping bags for studnets who need to borrow one for the week.
PRO-TIP: In the weeks before your student goes to camp, have them practice putting the sleeping bag in the stuff sack!!
Tops
For the upper body, please bring
- 5 shirts(long- or short-sleeved depending upon the weather) to Sly Park.
- 2-3 sweatshirts/hoodies/sweaters
- 1 jacket/coat in Fall/Winter/Spring

Bottoms
For the lower body, please bring
- 2 - 5 pairs of pants/shorts
Please note- Students that wear pajamas as a fashion statement, MUST NOT sleep in those same clothes. They need to bring separate pajamas for sleeping.
Undergarments
Undergarments for the week include:
- 5-6 pairs of underwear
- 1-3 bras
- 5-7 pairs of socks
Students get pretty sweaty and sometimes wet on the hikes. Having extra undergarments allows students to change into dry clothes and still have enough to make it to the end of the week.
Sleepwear
Pajamas or top and bottom **specifically** for sleeping
Please note- Students that wear pajamas as a fashion statement, MUST NOT sleep in those same clothes. They need to bring separate pajamas for sleeping.
Warm Layers
In addition to the sweatshirt/sweater/hoodie/jacket mentioned in the "Tops" tab, during cold months please bring
- Gloves
- Beanie/hat
Rain & Snow Gear
Sly Park Teachers can provide ALL students and Cabin Leaders with Ponchos during the class times. They keep them in between to help dry them out.
If you have your own poncho/rain jacket, you are welcome to use our gear and to keep yours fresh and dry for non-class times.
We provide bread bags to help keep your feet dry when your shoes are wet due to snow/rain. See your Sly Park Teacher to get some.
Footwear
Please bring
- 2-3 pairs of sneakers or boots for hiking- The better the tread, the easier it will be to not slip on the trails. Vans/Converse are not recommended for trails, but are great for around campus.
- Snow Boots if you have them and it is snowy
- Shower shoes [slides, sandals, flip-flops] These are for CABIN USE ONLY. Please do not walk on our campus with these shoes on.
PRO-TIP: Keeping ONE set of your shoes dry is KEY to warm feet. If it is raining and you are going on a hike, use bread bags [we will provide them] with your wet pair of shoes, so that you will have a dry pair when you return from a hike.
