We want you to be as prepared as you can be before you arrive. Please recognize that Sly Park is an actual SCHOOL with school rules 24 hours a day to keep our students supported and safe.
It can be overwhelming to be away for 5 days, or send your student away for 5 days. Please check out all of our website pages, read the FAQs, and if you still have questions, contact our office Tuesday-Thursday.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CABIN LEADER EXPERIENCE
Will I be in a cabin with my student?
If you and your student are the same gender, YES, you will both be assigned the same cabin UNLESS otherwise specified.
Can I bring snacks?
Yes, as long as they are NUT-FREE you may store them in the Conference Room. There is a refrigerator, microwave, and K-cup coffee maker (although our coffee in the dining hall is ever-present and very good).
Are there bathrooms and showers IN our cabin?
YES!!! You will not have a walk to an outhouse or showerhouse during your visit.
Do I get breaks?
Of course! Your role is a challenging role. We do need you to be in the cabins to monitor the students during cabin time. There are a few opportunities each day to take some personal time. On the first day you will meet with your designated Sly Park Teacher who will explain when these opporunities are available.
Will there be students from other schools in my cabin?
YES! This is a long-standing part of the Sly Park experience. Each cabin will have students and adults from different schools. As a cabin leader, you will be responsible for overseeing ALL students and helping them integrate successfully. You will receive a training on arrival day to help facilitate this.

Will I be with my BUDDY at Sly Park?
You will be in the same hiking group and cabin with your buddy. You will have the opportunity to meet several new friends also while at Sly Park.
Are there bathrooms and showers IN our cabin?
Yes! Each cabin has 3 shower stalls, toilets, and sinks for you to use INSIDE!
What if I don't have winter clothes and I am coming while it snows at Sly Park?
Do the best you can to pack warm clothes. We have plenty of jackets, socks, and shoes to help you stay warm while here at Sly Park. Just let an adult know and we will set you up.
What if I don't like hiking?
Givew it a try! It is really just walking, noticing the remarkable world around you, and learning as you go.
Will there be students from other schools in my cabin?
Yes!! Not only will they be in your cabin, they will be in your hiiing group as well. Sly Park is a time to stretch your comfort level and meet new people. Some you will like, and others might not be your favorite, but you will learn to coexist in kindness.
