Interpretive Center

Sly Park’s Native American Interpretive Center (NAIC) provides students with an opportunity to experience and develop respect for the Native American culture, through the use of hands-on learning centers. The learning centers include acorn grinding, fire making, flint knapping, spear hoop and other games.

The NAIC has artifacts representing many areas of the Miwok culture and lifestyle, and items from other various tribes. Our collection includes baskets, musical instruments, and jewelry. We also have artifacts including mortars, pestles, and obsidian points on loan to Sly Park from the US Forest Service.
