Sly Park Distance Learning

Our mission is to engage students, support science instruction and teach the importance of our role in being stewards of the environment.

With COVID protocols, many students are not able to attend an outdoor science camp and with the extreme wildfire concerns, Environmental Science is even more relevant than ever before. Although students cannot currently come to our campus, our Distance Learning lessons allow a virtual field trip to be delivered to you.

Each lesson is designed to address not only the NGSS standards (Disciplinary Core Ideas, Science and Engineering Practices, and Crosscutting Concepts) but also California’s Environmental Principles and Concepts. Lessons will be supported with a Science 5E Instructional model with live instruction, hyper-docs, videos, and digital resources. There will also be short self-guided activities for students to complete between lessons known as Home Investigations.

The price includes all instructional materials used during the lessons and in between classroom visits. All materials are designed by the Sly Park teachers. Schools with several classes are eligible for a structured discount. (See table below for pricing of the first unit.)

Number of classrooms by school 1-3 4-6 7+
5th Grade Matter Management Unit (per class) 5 lessons in the Unit $500 $450 $400
6th Grade Forest Ecology Unit (per class) 5 lessons in the Unit $500 $450 $400

Check with your Business Office for the potential use of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

If your district or school is interested, please complete the Distance Learning survey. By completing the survey, you are only expressing interest. Our team will follow up to answer questions and discuss next steps.
